Travel and Compete
If have been looking for a reason to travel and also have the opportunity to compete with other seniors, this may fit the bill for you. The European Senior Games will be held in Poland this Fall, September 10 – 16, 2012. I do not know much about this competition but I do know that it is sanctioned by the U.S. National Senior Games. More information is available at the European Championships website: http://seniorgames2012.org. If you head over to compete, please send us your results and we will share them with your fellow Senior Olympians here.
Volunteers
Not only do we want you competing in the Iowa Senior Olympics this June but we want you to bring people with you. Bring fellow competitors so they can enjoy the friendships and test themselves. Also bring friends and family who would like to help as volunteers. The Games do not happen without the thousands of hours of volunteer help we receive. We need people who want to help direct events and people who can hand out shirts or throw basketballs pack to shooters. If you know anyone who would like to help out, have them contact the director of volunteers, Sue Patterson-Nielsen. Sue went into the Hall of Fame last year for all of her contributions to the Iowa Senior Olympics but that didn’t slow down her desire to help make each Games a success. Help her out by signing up.
